As promised here are a few of the cards I made for Create and Craft TV.

I think I need to make the cards more sturdy in future as everyone seems to like playing with the Kinetic cards that have moving parts. The teapot above tips so it looks like its pouring out a cuppa. I love this range of products as it's so versatile.  Keep watching for more ideas using the range from Jo Austin, Sheila Halliwell and Becky James throughout this week.

The Forever Friends "Best of British" shows should are on today, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday (if the product doesn't sell out before then) at various times. Check the docrafts website or Create and Craft TV schedule for times. For more samples click here - My Gallery on the doCraft website.

I'll be Demonstrating the doCrafts May/June products - Wellington Bear, Lucy Cromwell range etc., in The Range in Exeter on Saturday 19th and Trago Mills in Newton Abbot on Sunday 20th so if you can make the demo's - see you there.

My Cards on Create and Craft TV-18th May

Posted on: Tuesday, 15 May 2012
On Friday 18th May it's the doCrafts Pick of the Week "Best of British"  on Create and Craft TV - take a look some of the samples Iv'e made for the show.

I'll be showing examples on my blog on Friday thru the week and putting them onto my doCrafts Gallery too, so that you can see close-ups etc.

The "Best of British"  is a lovely range of products - just right for the Jubilee celebrations, Olympics etc.,
Watch this space and please revisit my blog and doCrafts Gallery for details of the shows and pictures of the cards which include some Kinetic (moveable) fun cards.

Melted Embossing Powder Flowers.

As I'm one of those people who try and experiment with all sorts of crafting, I love seeing what I can make with the stash that I already have (saves money too).

Iv'e used my Embossing Powders to make Free-form Flowers and leaves here.

Melted powders can be manipulated with your heat gun into flowers, then you can add a centre to the flower with an alternative colour powder. Each one turns out different and can add lots of dimension to your cards and scrapbook pages.

I love to experiment with different techniques. More to come in the next few days - next time using glue, stamps and foils.......... Watch this space...........

My Favourite Quote: Creativity Blog Prompt 9

Posted on: Wednesday, 9 May 2012
One here to make you think... read on... Following the Creativity Blog Prompt "My Favourite Quote" there is one quote that sums up how I feel about most things in life.

The quote is taken from "The Little Prince" a book for children but with a very important message for adults and something that I think we should all think about now and again in this material world that we live in.  - the quote is
"what is essential is invisible to the eye"......

This quote always makes me think, appreciate what I have and although a bit ironic as my main hobby is creating and making something to "look at" - it's the joy behind the actual "creating" process that I love as much as the end product itself.

The quote above always makes me smile - what is essential to you that is invisible to the eye? Have a think and I bet you end up smiling too.............

Talking of creating things and ending up smiling, I thought you might like to see this picture of a lettuce I grew last year. Not sure what I fed it on but whatever it was, I want some if it.

Oh and I am stood behind it (smiling), it's not wearing a hat honestly.

My Craft Style

Posted on: Friday, 4 May 2012
MY CRAFT STYLE

Well, where do I begin.... I don't really have a style - I love all sorts of styles from Shabby Chic, Retro, Vintage, Soft and Feminine - you name it - I like it.

I use a lot of my crafting knowledge and skill (if you can call it that) to make things for my house, paint pictures, make 3D objects - make cards -  the list goes on.  I am into recycling too so like to use things like recycled bottles and silk and vegetable fibres to create something a bit unusual.
I started by painting a long time ago and still paint today but use my painting techniques for my card-making and stamp designs.
This picture was painted in oils and taken from an ideas from an old Christmas Card I had . It's is rather an old fashioned image but one which I can copy and put onto my own  Christmas Cards.

I also make my own Silk Fibre creations as well as making Silk Paper which I use to decorate all sorts of items.

The journal you see here was made by covering a small book with my own Silk handmade paper and I have added some Friendly Plastic embellishments.  I love Friendly Plastic as it's so versatile and you can make all sorts of things with it from jewellery to pictures.

Being a DoCrafts Designer, I am lucky enough to be abe to design my own range of cards using all the lovely products.
I also design my own stamps and simply love Landscapes of all kinds.
I have made my own range of stamps and Digi-stamps (more Free Digi-stamps coming to this blog soon.)  which can be seen on my website .

For this card Iv'e used one of my own designs of stamps and used Embossing Powders to create a moonlight scene.  Iv'e added embossing powder to the foreground to create the look of snow and embossed the moon with pearlescent powders to make it look like it's shining.

No actual style as such, just lots of experimenting and playing with crafts and products really.

This card was made using the new Downloads from the doCrafts Creativity Club Download page.

I used my Big Shot to cut out some flourishes and flower punches to create some corner flowers.

The two main sentiments are from this weeks' downloads. Inks were used to distress the edges and a small piece of coredinations cardstock which I crumpled up and then sanded was used as a backing for the embellishments.
I'll put this card up on my Gallery too. Just click here to see my Gallery which I add to every week.

More projects to come in the very near future.

Felt and Fibre Wall Hanging

Posted on: Thursday, 3 May 2012
Decorated Wall Hanging.

As working with Fibres is now so popular, I thought I would put up one of my Felted Wall Hangings.

I used Merino wool fibres along with my favourite silk fibres to create this Wall Hanging. Using the "wet felt" method,  which is the method I used to create this piece, I also make decorate  felt squares which I then make into handbags, glasses cases, make-up bags etc

Keep looking on my blog to see more creations using all sorts of different fibres. My favourite are the silk fibres and now Iv'e started using natural fibres such as Bamboo and Banana fibres. -- yes you did read it correctly - Banana fibres.

Iv'e been naughty and bought myself an embellisher now so you will see many more creations using all sorts of different fibres in the weeks' to come.  I love embellishing as you can use up all your fibres and scraps of material to create new and exciting projects.  Watch this space for more to come using fibres in unique ways..................

DoCrafts Creativity Club Blog Prompt

Posted on: Tuesday, 1 May 2012
Lucy Cromwell A4 Decoupage
Card Making Set
DoCrafts Creativity Club are hosting a 31Day Blog prompt and the subject for today is- "5 reasons why you should craft".  I may not be able to join in everyday but will do my best to add to my blog as much as possible over May using the Creativity Club Blog prompts on the Creativity Forum.

My 5 reasons why I craft are:
1.Crafting makes me think more about creating something new from something old.
2. Crafting make me lose myself in creating.
3. Crafting makes me think about recycling materials
4. You can eat chocolate whilst crafting - yummy - and finally -
5 Crafting makes me explore new ideas and techniques - to explore new methods, to seek out new materials and products -
To boldly craft where no crafter has gone before.
 (Sorry couldn't resist that)

Iv'e added a card Iv'e made using the new A4 Decoupage Card Making Kit from Lucy Cromwell Card now in your local retail stores. This is just one of the card samples for my forthcoming demo at Buy and Save in Wellington on Saturday 5th May. Hope to see you there.

My next Demo -Buy and Save in Wellington on 5th May

Michael Powell stamps from DoCrafts
I love the new Michael Powell stamps
- just one of the new  ranges from DoCrafts in May/June that I'll be demonstrating at Buy and Save in Wellington on Saturday 5th May.

Iv'e used two of the Michael Powell scenic stamps for these cards - they are perfect for colouring in but for a change and a different look Iv'e decided to keep them in black and white which I think works really well too.

I met Michael at the NEC when I was demonstrating for WoW Embossing Powders in March. A lovely gentleman. He is renowned for his cross-stich images but now DoCrafts also supply his lovely images in stamp form. I love the beach huts scene too which will be on here in the near future.

Here is your free Digi-Stamp for April.

Iv'e used this Digi-Stamp with the DoCraft Digital Designer programme available to you if you purchase one of DoCrafts CD's or DVD's.  Digital Designer is a programme that you get Free with the CD/DVD's and you can also have free upgrades for life making sure you have the very latest updates and design features.  Go to http://www.docrafts.co.uk/ to find out more. As well as using the CD/DVD Roms (available from DoCrafts and your local retail stores) to create cards etc.,  you can also import your own images such as photo's or in this case my FREE Digi-Stamp.

Here Iv'e made my own background paper, a feature of the DoCrafts Digital Designer package as well as using the Digi image for the main focus.

Digital Designer gives you the opportunity to play around with your images, make papers, re-size, re-colour and much, much more.
Buy your CD/DVD and upload the Digital Designer programme...... your images will come to life and give you a whole new crafting experience.

As promised - Felted Flower Tutorial

Posted on: Saturday, 31 March 2012
Hi all,

Better late than never - as promised here is the Felted Flower Tutorial I promised I'd put onto my blog for those of you who would like to make your own flowers out of wool fibres.

You will need:
A Felting needle
Calico
Wool Fibres
Large piece of thick foam (at least 3" thick)
Embroidery hoop

Firstly a word of WARNING - the Felting Needles are very sharp and barbed so please be careful not to stab yourself when making this flower. Always place the hoop onto a table covered with a cutting mat (any solid craft cutting mat will do) - Please DON'T make this flower on your lap..... you will stab yourself if you do this....

Step 1.

Place the calico inside the Embroidery hoop . Put a small piece
wool onto the Calico and begin to stab at the wool with the felting needle. Make sure that the foam is underneath the calico as you stab at the wool (make sure the needle goes all the way through and into the foam underneath) Continue to stab a the wool pulling in the sides of the wool with the needle and shaping it into a petal shape as you go.

Step 2.

Add another piece of wool to make a second petal.
Continue to shape the petals as you go. Check underneath the Calico and you will see that the wool goes all the way through. Keep adding wool to make further petals until you have five in total.

Step 3.

Once you have 5 petals in total, add a second different colour into the centre of the flower and continue to stab (felt) the wool, shaping it into a circle forming the centre of your flower.

Step 4

When you have completed the first flower, you  can make a second flower on another piece of calico then cut the second flower out with scissors and add it to the first flower by felting the two flowers together.  (See the first picture above)

Place one flower on top of the other and stab through both flowers.  This will join them together at the centre and you will have a three dimensional flower to use either on the calico or to cut out and your flower as an embellishment to a cushion, hat, hairband etc.,

This way of felting is called the Dry Felting method.

There is also another method of felting wool fibres together to make sheets of felt which can be made into all sorts of crafty creations. This method is called the Wet Felting Method using water, soap, heat caused by friction and lots of hard work if making this type of felt by hand.

I'll add some more images of my felted creations on here for you to see  soon......

More samples made using WoW Powders

Posted on: Tuesday, 20 March 2012
WoW - I love these powders......

Free-hand Embossed background using an
 ink pad and powders
Iv'e spent the morning making samples for "WoW"   to take with me to the NEC tomorrow.  The show is open to the public on Thursday 22nd  until Sunday 25th. There are lots of Demo's, Workshops, some Make and Takes along with all your favourite crafty people selling their lovely products.

Iv'e been  using WoW powders with, and also  without stamps, creating some painted backgrounds using nothing but a pigment ink pad and various colours of powders. I love this technique as you really don't know how it's going to turn out until you actually heat the powders.  For the image above, Iv'e added some silhouette figures using Primary Black Powder and birds using the new WoW stamps now on sale the WoW website and on the WoW stand at the NEC  http://www.wowembossingpowder.co.uk/

Here are a few of the other samples which will be on display at the NEC

Fluffy white clouds made with white embossing powders......

You can even emboss onto Driftwood with these powders.....
Inked backgrounds, foils and black embossing powder create a distressed look ...

Red Poppies Card.

Posted on: Monday, 19 March 2012
Thank you to all the ladies who attended the Demo at the Art Shop in Callington on Saturday and everyone who came to Trago Mills on Sunday to watch the latest DoCrafts product demo.  I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and picked up some new tips and techniques.  Glad you liked all the lovely products.

Poppies made with melted
 Embossing Powders.

As I had lots of requests for instructions on how to create different shaped cards, I'll add some tutorials on here on how to make some of the cards I made at the demo's in the next week or so.  As some of you asked about embossing techniques too  I made a card using melted embossing powders.  "Red Poppies" Card.

Old Picture Frame re-vamped
using Embossing Powders.

I love using Embossing Powders and have been busy making some samples for "WoW" for the show at the NEC this coming week .

Iv'e also been preparing for my next blog post for WoW to be scheduled for their blog on  22nd March. Take a look 22nd for an Altered Art/recycled project using something that all of us will probably have at home that we could re-vamp into something new using Embossing Powders. Go to http://wowembossingpowder.blogspot.com/ on 22nd March.  I love recycling and making something new from something old.  This picture frame was made using an old discoloured cardboard frame that used to house one of my school photos. I stamped then embossed the frame and added some embossed embellishments to decorate.  I keep looking around the house now wondering what I can alter next.......
Iv'e been creating even more scenes and using my stamps for single embossed images too.

I love using these stamps - Iv'e created this scene using a variety of stamps from both my first and second sets.

Iv'e incorporated some background scenes from the first set along with the "Trees and Fences" from the second set of stamps.Iv'e  embossed the background with Pastel Purple WoW Embossing Powder - this gave the effect of aerial perspective and a misty mountain background. I then used my corner leaf stamp which Iv'e embossed with Primary Green. The coulds were made using blue paint and I daubed cotton wool soaked in clear pigment ink to make fluffy clouds which I then embossed with white powder.  The foreground rocks and fence were embossed with "Pepper" and "Primary Black Regular" powder.

This image is also one of my stamps taken from the "Flowers and Ferns" range.

I inked the background using ink pads and spritzed paint then embossed the image using Primary Black Embossing Powder.

More images to come using both my stamps and embossing powders.

I'll be up at the NEC on Thursday showing some Embossing Techniques on the "WoW" stand so hope to see you there.

Stained Glass Lampshades

Posted on: Wednesday, 7 March 2012
As well as crafting with cardstock, making jewellery, making my own silk papers from mulberry silk fibres, painting etc etc, I also like to dabble in Stained Glass. I jumped right in at the deep end with this Stained Glass Lampshade - typical me - never do anything plain and simple but it did test my skills and make me realise that working with glass isn't as easy as it looks.

After I'd applied all the plasters to my fingers I managed to finish the project which is now on display in my living room lighting up my life each night.

I also love to paint - to see some paintings go to http://christinescraftyart.com/ on the main Gallery page.

Lots more craftiness to come - I will show some felt work next and will include a "dry felt tutorial" on how to make a felt flower. All you need is an embroidery hoop, some material, (calico will do),  a felting needle, some wool fibres (which you could comb out from an old jumper with a wire brush if you want a cheap way of doing it to practice) I usually purchase wool fibres for my main projects especially when creating pieces for the wet felt method. More of this to come too.......

Iv'e been very naughty and bought an Embellisher machine now so will be able to show some embellished pieces in the near future.

Blog Award

Posted on: Wednesday, 7 March 2012
I have been honoured with a Blog award!!!

Elaine at http://wheelerscraftiness.blogspot.com/ has kindly awarded the Liebster Blog Award to my blog. Thank you Elaine - much appreciated.

The LIEBSTER BLOG AWARD is used to show appreciation of smaller blogs (under 200 followers) and to help spread readership and joy. It comes from the German meaning Dearest or Beloved, but can also mean Favourite. As part of the tradition, the award is to be passed along to five other blogs that have motivated and inspired me.

The other rules are:

The blogs I choose must have less than 200 followers.
I must comment on their blog, so that they know about it.
I must link back to the person who gave me the award and thank them, and post the award on my blog.

I'll be choosing my nominated blogs  from my Followers so watch this space.....

Use Metal for your Crafty Creations

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 March 2012
I thought I would show you some of my "Metal Craft" creations. Iv'e made a Wall Hanging using craft metal, wire and beads and also a Journal which I made from my own Hand-made Silk Paper and craft metal.

I stamped both images with Black Alcohol Ink and embossed the images both front and back making the image stand out. I then heated the metal over a naked flame to change it's colour. Embellishments were added to decorate the journal and a wire and bead handle added to the wall hanging.

I'm diversifying now with my crafting. Watch this space for Stained Glass lampshades, paintings, items used with my new Embelllisher, felt work, beading, driftwood sculptures, mosaics  and much, much more....So much to do and so little time.....

Tree of Life Card made with my own range of stamps.

Posted on: Thursday, 23 February 2012
 Hi again all.

Thought I would show you my Tree of Life Card made with two of my Stamps - the bare tree from Set 1 and one of the branch and leaf stamps from Set 2.
Iv'e added some driftwood to the side wrapped in  blue wire, a blue raffia bow and sentiment to complete the card.

Iv'e also been busy making Embellishments with Polymer Clay - take a look at some of the buttons, beads, card toppers etc., I love fimo and other types of clay as they are so versatile.  As you can see I'm into anything and everything to do with crafting. (Housework comes second I'm afraid)

Iv'e also made a clay and glass pendent.

I used a glass pebble and wrapped fimo clay around the pebble, moulding the clay into leaf shapes etc., before baking it in the oven. An Eye Pin was also added to the back of the pebble, pressed into the clay,  before baking so that I can attach a jump ring and chain to use as a pendant.

Iv'e lots of ideas for my new Design sets coming in the near future. Watch this space for more ideas an demo's to come........
Iv'e been playing with the smaller images taken from Set 2 to create scenes as well as using the stamps individually as a main focus for the card.

Busy Designing with my new stamp range

Posted on: Friday, 27 January 2012
Iv'e been a very busy girl today designing cards with my new stamps. I love the way you can mix and match each image with each different set.   More to come very soon....

There is a DEMONSTRATION of my Stamps on Saturday, 18th February at Buy and Save in Wellington from 10,00am - 3pm. Please come along and see what you can achieve using the new Stamp Sets from Christines Crafty Art.

The following cards are made using images from Set 1 - Iv'e stamped the image/scene with blue watersoluble ink and used a paintbrush to blend in the colour. Plain and simple but effective, especially when used with a patterned paper background.

These three matching cards would make a great gift set for someone.
I love these scenes stamped in monochrome and then blended to add definition.
Can't wait to get playing again with more from my new set. Iv'e got lots of ideas so watch this space........

Have your say
