This is about me and my crafting and my everyday life.

getting back

Posted on: 28/08/2011 07:36:17 Quarantine this entry
Long time since I was here but I am now getting back into the crafting scene. I have been knitting a lot but am now starting to think about more ATCs and a few cards. I have moved house twice since I last was here and now live in Melton Mowbray. I have managed to buy a mobility scooter which I am learning to 'drive' so I can get out more without depending on others.

So looking forward to being back on the forum soon.

Soon be August

Posted on: 31/07/2010 07:27:08 Quarantine this entry

Well, it is August tomorrow and I can't see what I have done in July. I was getting better but the last couple of weeks I have been very depressed and then the leg and hip pain came back much worse than it has been for a while. I am seeing my 'man' on Tuesday so I hope he can help with this and someone suggested that I ask my GP to refer me to the Pain clinic as well so that is something else for this week. I have done no crafting at all and I feel it is time I got myself together again as making ATCs can be very therapeutic so I will make an effort this week to do something. My local craft shop is closing down at the end of September as the owner is retiring so I have no excuses for not buying craft stash as she has a large discount on everything she has left.

Thanks for reading and for any comments you make, they are really appreciated, Gladys

I think we have had a very similar July! I don't know what your weather has been like, but ours has been so changeable, so I never know what to do, and it's not good for my joints when it switches so much. What you say is right though - make the effort to go to the shop and treat yourself, and then get stuck in. Achieving something will help, and then the GP visit should also make you feel that you are taking positive action. Easier said than done when you feel like this, I know, but you have written it here, so that's the first step. And take care of yourself.

nearly finished

Posted on: 08/06/2010 17:54:55 Quarantine this entry
The kitchen is nearly finished. There is a cupboard to repair which was damaged when it was put in, but then it is done. I am having a new washing machine tomorrow so hopefully that will all go well. Then once I have moved everything back I can get down to some crafting. I am not going to make swaps which have a date mid month but may get others done.

Now I have to sort out my leg pain which can be excruciating at times and stops me from walking or standing. I have found a soft tissue therapist who can deal with this, it just needs me to make an appointment and go!

Looking forward to making ATCs again and swapping.

Thanks for reading and for any comments.

weary

Posted on: 31/05/2010 07:49:09 Quarantine this entry
I am so weary after emptying my kitchen ready for the workmen tomorrow. Today I am taking some time out and going on a short trip to a nearby market. Hopefully I shall find some craft stash or at least be able to sit down by the river and relax. I have been finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the noise as the workmen got nearer to my flat but it will soon be over, another 10 days and then I can get everything back into place.

If you read this blog, please send me some positive thoughts so I can cope with the next few days. Thanks for reading.

Hi Gladys, positive thought coming your way. Once it's all finished it will have been worth all the hassle. I had mine done a couple of years ago and I still walk in the kitchen and shower room and think wow aren't I fortunate to have this. Hope it won't be long till the work is finished and you can have peace and quiet again. Anne x

Chaos

Flower inchies for Inchies swap

It has been chaos here with new heating and lots of other refurbishments going on. In 10 weekes time I will be getting a new kitchen as well. The poor cat has a second home in the cattery now. She is back with me at the moment though. I have been managing to craft despite all the chaos and uploaded quite a few ATCs yesterday.I really ought to try more stamping but I take the easy way out and do decoupage when I feel stressed as that seems to calm me down. Perhaps when all the work is finished I will get back to other techniques.

I had a funny little spotty type lump removed from my forehead in the week. The stitches pull when I move to talk or blink and vision is difficult because the dressing is over the eyebrow as well. Hopefully it is not a nasty spot but I will soon know about that.

I have added one of my latest ATCs to this blog, it is for the inchies swap.

Having to take a short break this week as new heating is being put in place on Wednesday and I have to move a lot of furniture around to make space for the new heaters and for the work to be done. I have done some of the themed swaps already but may have to miss a few this month as I can't get at my craft stuff very easily. Hopefully I will be back to normal in about 10 days when I have worked out whre to put all my bookshelves and craft stuff. The poor cat has gone to the pussy cat hotel for 10 days as she could not cope with all the coming and going as tall he other flats are being done, never mind the noise when mine is done.

Thanks for reading and for your comments.

Not been here for months

Posted on: 25/02/2010 08:00:55 Quarantine this entry

I have not been here for ages. But is Spring coming now? There are snowdrops around and it is slightly warmer but there is still some snow on the ground. I think I have run out of steam with my ATC making but there again, there is so much going on in the housing complex where I live that I don't have enough time to sit and think never mind craft. There are a lot of refurbishments going on and it is my turn next week and the following week for the heating and window things. It means I have to move a lot of craft stuff to new places and that is going to give me a big headache. However I do hope to get my themed swaps done in time. I shall sort out the bits I need for these and keep them separate from the other stuff so I can work on them when I get time and space. Oh for a little room just for craft.....

Thanks for reading and for any comments.

Nice to see you back blogging, like you I'm just back after a long break. Hope the heating and window goes without any hitches and you get your stash a permanent home. Anne x

More snow forecast

Posted on: 28/12/2009 08:11:30 Quarantine this entry

More snow on the way. I am not sure I can cope with more snow as it means I can't go out and I get so frustrated when stuck in the house.

I did manage to make some ATCs yesterday for themed swaps so at least I am crafting again. I shall try to do more today and perhaps some other sthat I can swap as 1-2-1's.

I am also hoping to scan loads of old photos and put them on a USB stick so they will be saved for ever, or that is the plan any way.

Nearly Christmas

Posted on: 20/12/2009 12:51:08 Quarantine this entry

Snow and more snow making it hard to get out so although my weekend break was cancelled and the cat is in the cattery, I have made the best of it by doing a whole load of sorting out left over from my house move. Now I can sit anywhere as all the piles of stuff on chairs and on the floor have been put away. Now I have space to craft so watch this space in the New Year.

On a personal front I have been told I have a minor form of skin cancer which will be dealt with next year. So here is hoping it does not turn into something more serious.

But the good news is that my artwork is flourishing and I am now working with a form of psychic art using pastels. Perhaps I can adapt some of this to ATC format. Who knows?

Happy Christmas to all those who read this blog and good crafting in the New Year.
