Last Weeks Cards.
The Pink card took the longest. It was scored and cut and the same with the layers.

I made these flowers whilst watching 'Death on the Nile' again! We've been to all the places in the film and more. When they were walking down the temple at Karnak - walked down there. It was great to see these places again. I'd love to go back. Anyway, I made these Periwnkles. There are four groups of four. I pushed them together for the photo. I used some clear acrylic stuff on the middles but it doesn't show up too well in the photo. I'm definately NOT David Bailey!
Just had a thought. That clear stuff would make great dew drops on leaves etc.

As well as cards and flowers, I've been making these embellishments for my scrap books. I still have a few other things to make but I am becoming a bit more adventurous with my creations. Each one gives me an idea for another one. Oh well, those few brain cells are being exercised!

On this day, my paternal grandfather was born.
He was shot in the knee in WW1, aged 17, also on this day.
He died on this day.
This is not a day that the family will forget. He died before I was born but I think about him at least every year.

I have added to my bouquet! I felt like making a few more flowers so did these whilst watching TV. The pansies were obvious but also on the sheet were a few mystery bits. It doesn't state what they are on the CD! I found the instruction booklet had these pieces and they were Clematis. That became apparent when I put them together! LOL

These are the cards we made this week. The top one looks simple but there was a bit of effort involved. The 'cards' one would have been a great card for my father-in-law. His birthday was 2nd April and we used to play Cribbage together. So Happy Birthday Jacko.

Husband bought me goodies so I've had a go at something from the DVD that came with it. I just used a piece of card that was at hand and plain printer paper inside. Now I know how to do this, I will have a go with some nice card and fancy paper. The one in the DVD was embellished so I will have to make something to add to this one. The handle in the instructions was made from cord. I had a length but it was too think so I just used the ribbon. Of course, it could have been a clutch bag!
Thought this might be a nice Mother's Day card and room for a little gift inside.

We were in B&Q and I spotted a wallpaper that would have been terrific as a scrap book paper. Of course you can rip off a piece and take it home. I found another with a tree print which would be great for Family History scrap books. Paper should be Lignin and acid free for scrap books, Not sure of the wallpaper would last - but what the heck. So I am going to have a go! It's free!!!

Just had a visit to the SECC. I didn't spend much which is a relief to the purse! I did manage to find out a few things I've been wondering about though. There was a guy with a Cameo so I had the answers to a lot of questions I have about this. I am looking to buy one eventually. I already have a Xyron Wishblade which I love but it only cuts up to A4. I might treat myself in a couple of months.

I wanted to try some differently constructed cards. I printed off the images from a CD and made this one. The photo was taken with the sun shining through from the back, which was an accidental effect which I thought looked nice.I really liked the card used in the instructions for making this type, but that one was not on the CD - typical. I have since found the CD with that one so I might have to buy it :-(I will try out some other ideas from the one I have for now though.

Received my 'Envelopus' board the other day. Have been trying it out. I made a mistake with first one but got the 2nd one right.
Now I can make boxes for cards with 3D dimension. Just waiting on another item which is a pressie from hubby.
I bought a nifty tool and mat for making flowers yesterday. The mat I have is too soft. So no stopping me with these now!

We had a laugh yesterday. I received an email back from Craft.co.uk about the colour on both isde of the flowers in their instructions.
They said I could try printing back to back but couldn't tell me how as it was up to my printer. Or print a colour on one side.
I read this out to hubby, and he laughed and stated that I obviously knew more than the folk who made the CD!
I figured out that you not only have to flip the paper but the image on the PC.
Why could they not tell us that???

I have 8 sheets left of these, for sale in store.
Both designs are on one sheet.
They are approx 3½ x 4½ inches each.
I will used them in cards but I have not yet decided what sort of card yet.

12 Paper Fuschias.
These have taken a bit of puzzling out. The design is printed from a Flower CD. However, when printed, they are white on one side. I tried printing on both sides, but the way in which the CD is produced, the flowers do not fit back to front.
The penny eventually dropped and I imported the sheet into a design program. I pinted one side then flipped the paper to do the 2nd side but I also flipped the image in the program.
This worked a treat and the flowers were made. Of course, there are various colours on the CD but I've had enough of fuschias for a while!

I have decided to do some card making. I now have a good collection of tools and am using these in my scrap books as well.I used loads of things to make this Valentine Card. It is 8"x8" and I had to make a box for it!

I watched Create and Craft TV. I was hooked. I bought the Spellbinders Grand Calibur embossing and die cutting machine. So I have to play with this.
I found that Ideal World TV is on TopCashBack. So I clicked through that link. This gave me a percentage money back. I joined the Create and Craft Club which cost £20 BUT I got £10 off my purchase. So I bought the Machine while it was on offer, got it at Craft Club price, £10 off AND Getting over £7 back from TopCashBack.
Off to play with this now.

I bought Sizzix Eclips cutting machine for making scrap book pages as it cuts 12 x 12 inches.
However, the mat was buckled when I took it out of the box and it jammed in the machine. I left it under heavy weights for ages but it was still useless.
Next problem.
The mat was VERY adhesive. When I tried to cut something I could not remove it from the mat and had to rip it all off in a mess of bits.
I tried printer paper, card and a variety of other things but never got a single decent cut. It mashed up all the corners. I tried loads of different settings but nothing worked.
After a few cuts, the mat was no longer sticky. I would have to buy a new one. Expensive!
I tried to upload the new stuff from the web site......the page was no longer available! Suspicious!! I was emailed that it had been moved....so where to? What about them fixing the link then?
Another thing to watch - the paper listed on the machine is of no use or help. Const. Card???? Found it meant Construction card. So what is that? Heavy weight card? How heavy is heavyweight. This MIGHT make sense in USA but useless in UK. It would be great if they could give us a clue...like double sided scrap book paper, etc.
I wasted a fortune on paper and card and hours of time. I was soooo frustrated with this thing.
I know that a bad workman blames his tools........BUT......I have had a Xyron Wishblade (no longer available in UK) for years. I have NEVER had any trouble with it. I still use the original mat and I cannot even begin to guess how much it has cut. The reason for getting the new machine was the fact that it cut 12" pages for my scrap books.
I did email Sizzix......I got a reply but after I took the machine back and got my money back.
Oh and I have found a similar one to the Xyron which does do 12" pages even up to 10 feet long! I will read reviews first!
The Xyron is great because I can scan a picture and convert it to cut. I can also design my own stuff and cut it. Only problem is that I can't get spares in UK from Xyron....they wont send to UK. But I have found somebody in USA who sends to UK. I bought the upgrade for it.....it cost as much for import duty and P&P though.

45th Parallel, on the outskirts of Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand
Could we find this sign? How many times did we drive past it?
Found it in the end - obviously!

Moeraki Boulders near Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand. These things are really weird looking. They could be mistaken for some sort of fossilized dinosaur eggs. They might also be used in a sci-fi film as alien eggs. Just too weird......

I have arrived back at digital Scrap Booking as well as paper scrap booking. It's been a long time!
Thought it was about time I updated this again.

I suppose I should update some stuff on here - it's been a while!

The original 3 children all put back together after almost 200 years! I am missing from the bottom generation as I am another generation down. Carole hosted an 'open house' for all her family and Joe came as well. When the 3 of us were together, that was one from each of the 3 originals. Now if anything 'psychic' was going to happen.....it should have been that day!
The background tree is in my friend Cythia's garden.....in Pennsylvania. Photo by by husband, altered by me!
