My crafty days

April Showers

Posted on: 01/05/2012 16:12:52 Quarantine this entry
I have uploaded a couple of the cards and scrapbooking pages which I managed to make in april even though I was and still am ill. Although I have been trapped in the house for nearly 4 weeks I have not had a great deal of time where I have been well enough to craft. When I did get chance to get in my craft room I know I did over do it alittle. You wouldnt believe how heavy all those beautiful papers really are when you have less mobility. Even stretching to reach for scissors etc proved alittle difficult. What spurred me on was the brilliant Shimelle Laine who had uploaded a free online scrapbooking class over easter and I really wanted to do some of her challenges. Ive also dug out some of Clare Curd's old weekly challenges to give me some ideas on card layouts. It means that I can get straight in my room, make quick cards, and then get back to the sofa with a cup of tea. I will be updating my blog in the next few days so please take a look. www.lexon5.blogspot.co.uk

I am moving my blog to a new site so the address for my new craft only blog is www.lexon5.blogspot.co.uk. I am still keeping the l4svegas account active but that will be updated less and will cover more aspects of my life. I was wanting to start a papercraft only blog as a stand alone thing...so introducing.... Clair's Cardmaking and Scrapbooking page! I have literally just set it up so it may be a week or so before there is much on it. Please 'follow' it using your google or yahoo account - the link is down the right hand side of the site page. You can also follow via email and it will update you via email when a new post has been put on rather than you having to visit the site to see if theres anything new on there. Could I ask you Facebookers and Tweeters to 'share' the page to get greater coverage. Thanks for your support. x

Latest uploaded images

Posted on: 12/10/2011 19:58:02 Quarantine this entry
Check out my gallery to see my latest forever friends creations. I absolutely love this stamp and use it all the time. I can believe it was a magazine freebie! In the anniversary card I have flipped the bear image to make it look as though they are facing each other and think it looks really cute. For the purple christmas card I have done a collection with this stamp with a similar design but in every colour of card that I had so they are similar but still unique.

The other card I have uploaded today is the fantasy tree that I took forever to hunt down and buy but never get round to using. I will need to dig out the images I had which showed how to get the most out of it because it looks great heat embossed and chalked onto after the stamp has been versamarked.

The Forever Friends anniversary card is the first of my commissioned cards. I am very excited about the prospect of being paid for my paper crafting. Although it is nice to get lovely comments about how people appreciate the card it is extra nice to have your palms crossed with silver too.

Halloween Fun

Posted on: 02/11/2010 18:11:08 Quarantine this entry
Please check out my halloween pages.

I am amazed at how quickly i have got these done considering the party wasnt until saturday night. I think the reason is because i have tried to be alittle more organised this time. The night before i gathered to gether all sorts of halloween and autumn elements and put them all together on my craft table. When i had made space that is. This way i already new which pages i needed to use - as i tried to use the 12x12 halloween papers as i can not use them for anything else - and had matching elements with it. as well as themed elements i had black, orange, purple and green tags, ribons, brads etc incase i decided to us them.

What you might not believe if that the bright bold halloween party page of the pumpkin carving is actually the reverse of the calm natural looking pumpkin fun page. it seemed a shame to waste the other side and the orange already matched the pumpkin theme. It did however effect some of my choices for embellishments as i could not add brads or write directly onto the page.

Hope you had fun with your halloween photos too. I will look forward to seeing them on the gallery.

Dog scrapbooking from a catlover

Posted on: 24/10/2010 22:42:34 Quarantine this entry
I am very pleased that this week I have been able to scrapbook the pictures of my two dogs that I had when I was younger. Although I am a catlover and dogs seem to hate me, me and my mum gave dog owning a try twice when I was younger. Unfortunatley both weres unsuccessful and we had to give them away to new homes but I enjoyed them while we had them.
Judy was a house destroyer and very quickly turned from the cute floppy eared pup to a pointy eared fox who loved nothing more than chewing on wires and tearing down walls. Assuming bordom was her reason for been destructive, and not that she was evil, we felt she needed someone who was in more to entertain her and gave her a new home.
Our second dog Blue was lovely but we soon found that this border collie cross must of been cross with a great dane or a giant. My most recent post on my scrapbooking gallery shows me and him together. Amazingly he is only a pup on these pictures. The was very tall and had very long legs with massive paws on the end. Although much loved he was very difficult to walk due to his size and my lack of strength and we felt that we werent able to give him enough excercise for his size. Begrudgingly we had to give him back so i have scrapbooked my photos of him as a lasting memory.

Docrafts, Stampin Up and Scrapbooking

Posted on: 14/10/2010 01:15:09 Quarantine this entry
Back from a fantastic holiday to Canada and Florida. Wish i could say i felt refreshed but the jetlagg is still with me after 7 days. I suffer really bad from it and writing this at 1am in the morning is probably not going to help it any. Lol.

As promised I have put my collection of scrapbooking pages on. Theres still afew more to add which i will finish of this week. Please feel free to comment on them.

Ive had a busy time since I got back thats for sure. The day i flew in i went to a Docrafts Focus group to discuss new productsand the creativity magazines content and future. It was very interesting and great to meet some of the team and other local crafters. I also love the christmas goody bag but mostly that I was able to get involved with the process.

On another crafty note I had my first Stampin Up Demonstration party with demonstrator Monica Gale. We had a brilliant night and spent a fortune on gorgeous quality products. We had product and technique demonstations and a christmassy make and take. A very enjoyable night.

Glad To Be Back

Posted on: 10/08/2010 18:21:52 Quarantine this entry
When I heard that the Docrafts site was changing I deleted all of my images out of my gallery as there was a problem with the new site viewing them. I have had many people asking when I will be putting them back on. The answer is now, well soonish. You know what Im like. My intention is to get my gallery back up and running this week and I will be displaying both old and new cards. I will also start to put on my scrapbooking as that is somnething that I have not showcaesd before and Im very excited about that. I will also start using this blog more as writing is another creative outlet that I enjoy. Any comments, reviews are very welcome. If you like what you see add me as a friend. Im especially looking forward to hearing from more people from Leeds, West Yorkshire, my hometown. Also if your interested I have set up a personal blog of random musings. Visit it at www.l4svegas.blogspot.com. The more followers I can get on this site the better. Please note that the majority of papercrafting articles will be kept to this page.

About me

Started card making in march 2006 after my grandma introduced me to it. Took an instant love to it and is my favourite thing to do when i manage to find alittle me time. Have been scrapbooking for around 3 years and love that equally if not more as love to make keepsakes which reflect my style.
Thank you for looking at my cards and commenting. Much appreciated.
