Tim Holtz challenge

Posted on: 07/12/2010 12:21:59 Quarantine this entry
Well here is my attempt for day 1
I took 2 shades of peach and mat and layered them to make the door structure, before assembling i used distressed mahogany to create the shading.
I used chalk to create the light in the window and red jewels for coloured panes
The letter box and key hole are made from a coke can, die cut and aged with butterscotch and marigold alcohol inks.
The wreath is made from card that has had a light pesto wash and sprayed with neat pesto and lemon glimer mist, I allowed this to dry fully before using a punch and assembly. I finished with small ruby stickle dots and a red bow

altered tool Kit

Posted on: 20/11/2009 18:56:40 Quarantine this entry

I have a friend who has to do a lot of travelling and with a young family all spare space is taken up in her luggage
So shes not able to take any craft stuff away with her. I know it would do me in to be away more than a day without my craft stuff.
I have what I call my 'travel kit', maded from synthetic materials and orignally desiged to be a car accident kit, containing note pad, pens, torch and check list to ask questions at accient site etc.
You will see I have moulded it to my own purposes.
It now holds, atc blank bits of patterned paper, a small stamp and pad, small images, a couple of brads, butterflys ie embellies, threads and ribbons.........all the things youd need to make an atc.
Space was left for her to add her fav tools, ie small scissors, pokey tool and scapel
Finally I personalised it for her with acrylic paint and wooden/bead decorations

Felted Books

felted books for Christmas

Its been a while since I posted, cause well life's been a bit difficult. Depression reared its ugly head and was compounded by being forced into the limelight.

However I met a good friend of mine, who has inspired me to making this years Christmas presents for special people, hand felted books, made with my take/twist on them. I was very pleased with the results.

The scan doesn't really do them justice, the metallic threads and silk threads don't really show up very well, the have some sparkle and soft sheens to them

Sorry to hear you've been down Shendy, hope life is improving. I was spot on with these then wasn't I? I think they are absolutely gorgeous and if these books are similar to the 'remnants' you sent me you are right the pictures don't do them justice. Hugs Cindy (PS you still aven't said what you want in return lol)

New Craft

large beads wrapped in 3mm silver wire

Well Its been a while since I tried anything new, so I booked a tutor to come to my home and have a days workshop.

Origionally there were going to be 5 of us, but the gastric flu got 2 of them.

As this was a special year for Floss and I, she turned 21 and I 50 we decided to celebrate by creating something for one another to keep as a reminder of the year.

After seeing the tutor demonstrating stone wrapping with wire to make pendants, we decided thats what we would do.

We made each other a necklace each, Floss then went on to making handbag charms and phone charms. I went on to wrapping stones.  Here are my first efforts

About me

I have been crafting for as long as I can remember and there are few crafts that I've not had a go at and enjoy. At present I have ME which restricts how often and what I do. My memory also is a great problem and need to be reminded of what I've agreed to LOL.
