I am absolutely gutted, I sent one of my docraft buddies 30 handmade cards to sell for her charity and they have never arrived.   I posted them on 17th July but as yet she has not received them.   Went to PO yesterday and got a claim form and it is asking for proof of value and asking for receipts for goods used.   That is very difficult as I used lots of different material from different packs etc.  Anyone any suggestions?  Thanks in advance :) Mags x

What a shame after all that hard work. Lots of our post goes astray. I get recorded delivery post and I never sign for it. They just put it through the letterbox and don't even check to see if I'm in. The letter or package could so easily be put through the wrong door. Apparently it's ok for the postman to sign for it and pop it through the door.

I'm totally gutted too that they have still failed to arrive, I feel really bad that all your hard work may be lost. Post has not been yet today so fx I'm still waiting in an eBay win coming that was posted on 17th seems a bit odd that both have not arrived xx

My friend has had a lot of craft stuff go missing and found someone on ebay selling stuff which had her name on when asked she said she bought them at auction -apparently Royal Mail sell unclaimed or stuff wrongly addressed at auction but she said her name and postcode were actually on the stuff!!!!!!

i would love to find out where all this lost post goes...  with all the money paid for postage you would think it would arrive at its destination...

when i did the drive for ribbon for a project at the nursery i had 2 packages sent that not arrive out of all the generous packages sent...

and every time i have a birthday card appeal there is always at least one not arrive...

so where do they GO???

saying that.. the mail do not not always get it right.... the amount of times ive had someone elses mail posted through my door.... but then i am honest and always take it to the PO sorting office and hand it back to be redelivered correctly...

a bug bear i have is.... in my villiage there is a street, road and high street all with the same first name

i live on the street one  and constantly get mail for the road of the same name and number... so far this year i have made 3 complaints of getting the wrong mail.... fair enough the road is only round the corner and i could easliy hand post it BUT why should i .... i dont get paid for this service... instead i take it back to the PO sorting office  (thankfully at the end of my street) and give it back to them and tell them off ...

BUT then i think hang on... if i get so much of their mail.... how much of MY mail do THEY get?? and are they as honest as me....  if not then they have my blinkin ribbons that people sent me...!!!

Perhaps lots of my birthday cards go astray as I never seem to get many. hee! hee! It's on the 18th of this month let's hope the postman can carry them all.

OH has just had to post some faulty batteries (for drills) back to the supplier so they can check them. Cost him over £22 special delivery. If posted by recorded it was still £18 and could take 4 days to get there. (If infact they get there)  I have found that recorded delivery doesn't always get there.

We also get post for someone in another road. All that is the same is the number. OH usually pops them through their door. Question is do they get our post. Also when OH's company accounts arrived this year they were opened. So who did they go to and who now knows all about our company and it's worth.

when i moved into my house i got mail for the previous owner and he asked the neignbour if i could be trusted to send his mail on. I thought checky he was having bottles of wine sent here each christmas and if i was'nt trust worthy i would have drunk them not rang him to collect them. Ho by the way he was a distance cousin as well would'nt have them after that.

And what use will a bag of random ribbons be to someone who doesn't craft in some shape or form?

I always post no items of some kind of value at the post office and request a receipt, so that I've got at least proof of posting in case I need to make a claim.

Last week was an absolute nightmare for mail addressed to us. Our usual postie, who is very good, was off on Tuesday and everything posted first class on Monday that should have arrived on Tuesday went AWOL - including two small packages with cutting dies. And as you might have guessed, Royal Mail are not in the slightest interested. The steam is still coming out of my ears ...

And don't even mention all the mail, which is addressed to completely different postcodes but arrives here when our usual postie is off ...

Not long after we moved here to wales.
I heard the letterbox go at 11 oclock at night,i was on my own, kids and hubby  in bed.
so didn't open the door .But they had put a letter through.it was addressed to me, and had been opened, and it was my appointment to go and have an operation   THE NEXT DAY. so obviously whoever it was had my letter sometime, and i suppose thought it funny to let me have it the night before my op.You can imagine the panic.I have lost loads of stuff in the mail, but in my opinion it doesn't get lost it gets taken,by some light fingered b.....r who thinks there might be money inside.
Only recently there was a man in court for doing just that.
And the P.O don't want to know.xx

When I phoned our sorting office they said it saves the postman bringing the letter or package back. It has happened to me many times.  I am not a liar.

I have had 3 embossing folders delivered from ebay in 2 seperate packages this week and they have both just been put through the door. (Both recorded delivery) Both times I was in but he never knocked or rang the bell.

I have a similar problem Karen.  At the end of my road there are 3 blocks of flats.  I live at house No 7 but there is a 7A, B,C,D,E and F in the flats.  It was fine when we had a regular postie but now we have somebody different every week and I am always getting the post for the flats.  I haven't had any post go missing so far.  I give the post back to the postie the next morning or if I am walking to the shops past the flats push it through, there is a communal letter box.  The sorting office is too far away.

My postie is brilliant, he has been doing th same round for so long he knows just about everybody on it so wrongly addressed post etc only ever happens when he is on holiday. He had a package, obviously a mobile phone, recently addressed to someone at my address and questioned it when he delivered my post as he knew there was no one of that name in my house. He knew a couple of other people with the same name on the round so was going to ask on his way round! Also, as far as recorded delivery is concerned I have specifically asked him to sign for me and pop through the letterbox, or in a safe place, so I don't have to trek to the sorting office to collect it. I have known him almost 15 yrs, I trust him implicitly and he lives in the same road as me! It's all going to go horribly wrong in the next 2 weeks though as he's on holiday!!

I've just seen this Mags, but it looks like you'll have to sit down with pen & paper and take into account all the card blanks, papers, toppers, ink etc that you've used and of course the postage charge and i'd add extra on too to cover your time it took to make them or work out a price per card, i.e £2 or whatever, i do hope you get properly compensated although it doesn't compensate for the let down of it happening in the first place. Sorry i don't have any real solutions for you but maybe they'll turn up xxx

the other house who i think MAY get some of my mail seeing as i get a lot of theirs... is a B&B / halfway house of sorts and a lot of people live there... so if i see someone wearing prety ribbons in their hair i shall be having words lol xx

before i moved i had similar problems as i lived in  ******* way and next to it was ******* street... and some of my mail was posted in ******* street...    I knew this because i almost didnt get divorced as an important document that i was meant to sign to finalise everything got delivered to them instead of me... i only found this out when i popped into my solicitors and they asked me if i had changed my mind as i hadnt returned the form...  when i told them i hadnt recieved it they said but it was signed for !!  so i went and knocked on these peoples door to find yes they did have my letter and they had meant to repost it but had forgotten... and they handed it to me OPENED and well thumbed... i was furious...

to top it off they did it again a year later.... i needed to send an IPOD back for repair and they said they had sent me a carriage box with a return label that had been signed for... so off i trotted back to the same house and the same woman blushingly gave me my parcel.... AGAIN opened...   this time i was quite cross and said to her.. it quite clearly shows MY name and MY correct address on the box... YOU have quite obviously opened mail not belonging to YOU knowing it belongs to ME...  i told her that this is twice she had done this and did she know it was an offence to knowingly open other peoples mail....  it didnt happen again and i did get a lette or two popped through my door late at night which i assumed was them redelivering things...

i did put a complaint in to the sorting office as the roads had different post codes and it was obviously human error that my mail was posted incorrectly...  same problem im having now in this house... ive asked them to put a label on my pidgeon hole to ensure we have the correct mail!!! we are only a villiage/extreamly small town after all its not hard work to make sure we get the right mail..

rant over lol xxx
