I got a go Kreate alphabet die, and stuck the foam on etc, and have tried cutting in my Big Shot - but I'm having problems... If I put it through with just the MPP and the cutting plates it doesn't really cut the letters, and if I add an extra bit of scrap paper to everything it cuts but the cut on the edges is not clean - it sort of comes out double or there is a extra really thin bit of string like card around the outside. What am I doing wrong? has anyone else had problems with their foam alphabet dies? what happens if I take the foam off? It probably doesn't help that it's the first die I've had with my Big shot so I haven't got anything to compare it to.
how can I get a clean cut when I use it? thanks abby

Hi, I dont have this die but sometimes this happens to me if I run it thru the machine forwards and back again. Maybe the die is moving slightly when its going thru the machine. Have you tried taping the die to your cardstock gently. That may help. X Littlesatchel x

I've only been putting it through the machine once - should I be putting it through several times? Abby

No, sometimes if the cards too thick I do but not normally. Have you tried gently taping the die to card so it doesnt move. Littlesatchel x

Hi, if you have a look on your post in die cutting a lady had problems when she put the foam on her die, before she put the foam on she had no problems. Maybe try that. It was a different make of die I should add. Im off to bed x hope something helps. Littlesatchel x

will try taping it and see how it goes. I had thought about taking the foam off but then got worried if it made things worse. Abby

abby, if you take the foam off it will be almost impossible to get the paper letters out of the die, trust me...ive tried|! i ended up using a pin to dig them out and ruined them all. try rachels idea about taping the die, thats a good idea. suzanne2

Hi Abby,
I cut Quickutz dies on my Big Shot ........... they are virtually the same as the Go Kreate dies (with a shim).
Once I have put my shim on I run it through the machine then peel the outside of the shim off. I don't have to tape my dies to my cardstock and only have to run it through once.
Hope this helps. susiedee1

where do you put the shim thing? I tried taping it but I ended up half cutting the tape too. I'm wondering if the problems are in part becsaue it is a new long strip all the letters on one die, but the older ones only had 3 letters to a square and worked better, Abby

Its a different brand Abby, lots of people have had problems with x cut alphabets. Personally I would put the shim underneath the non cutting face of the die so sandwich would be mpp with both tabs closed, cutting plate, shim, die face up, card, cutting plate. It doesn't matter if you cut through the tape as well but you only need a little piece just on the outer edge of the die to hold it in place. The tape should be on the back of the die so you shouldn't actually cut through it at all as it won't be near any of the cutting edges! Romayne xx

Suzanne, did it cut better once you got the foam off ? I have the same problem with the X-Cut Ticket
Dies and if taking the foam off makes it better I don't mind a few difficulties getting the paper out. (shapes are a lot bigger than alphabet shapes).

Try cutting near the edge of your machine, Abby, rather than in the middle. That can make a bit difference as more pressure is exerted at the edge. ChrisAndCat

will have a go at the edge. If I take the foam off and put it through can I buy more foam? am still confused about how to tape it if you are only meant to put the card over the letters you want eg in the middle of the die?

Sorry Abby, I see what you mean. If you cut a strip of card slightly wider than the die but only covering the letters you want then you can tape it at the edge. I would be very wary about taking the foam off, it's not like the quickutz ejection foam you can add afterwards so I don't know how it will affect the die if you remove it. I've pm'd you. Sorry if I confused you, for some reason I was thinking it was an x cut die!! Romayne xx
