Hi, I use the multi purpose platform with my big shot, which is fab as it has tabs that you flip over for different thicknesses. I use the 2 seperate plates to to sandwich either a die or an embossing folder. This sandwich then sits on top of the multi-purpose platform. The multi-purpose platform is then easy to use as it has diagrams on it to say which tab to flip over. Hope this helps x

Sorry so slow in replying - Christmas took over!!!! My Big Shot is new so I am really playing around with it at the moment. The Big shot comes with a sort of 'folder' with a plastic hinge so on the bottom you have the thick base plate then you use the see through cutting mat, then your chosen paper or card and die, then the other see through cutting mat. At this point you can choose either TAB 1 (a thin sort of laminated card or TAB 2 (a much thicker laminated card.)These are attached to the thick base with a hinge (which has broken!). You can use either TAB 1 or both TAB 1 & 2 to get the desired thickness. On one of my dies I even have to add a thin piece of card as well. I have only had my bigshot a few weeks and the hinges on it have broken already but I can still use the layers individually. The instructions with the Big Shot dont tell you which Tab to use just little pictures of layers. Hope this is not too confusing but as I say I am new to my Big Shot so its very much tr
