Step by Step

1

Trim red smooth cardstock to 7.5” square, scrape the edges with a blade to fray and ink with chocolate dye ink. Create faux blanket stitch by punch a border close to the edge of the card and drawing in stitching with a white gel pen. Stick to the front of the card blank.

2

Cut corrugated card to 7” square, roughen the edges and ink with green and dark yellow. Attach centrally to the red card.

3

Trim green checked Boofle paper to 6.5” square. Sand the surface to age and apply chocolate ink over the top to tone down bright white of the design. Roughen the edges with a blade as before and run red ink round the perimeter. Matt onto dark brown smooth card to leave a very narrow border and attach to the top of the corrugated card.

4

Trim Patchwork paper to 6 x 2.5 inches in size and dark brown smooth card 0.25” larger in diameter. Rip the bottom edge of each. As before sand and ink the patterned paper and matt onto the plain card. Attach to the card blank just below half way down the design.

5

Cut a piece of kraft card stock 2 x 4” and punch the doily dots pattern along both long sides. Attach a central border of distressed holly paper before placing to the right edge of the card, over the patchwork paper. Stick evergreen spotted satin ribbon across the middle of the border and cut the end to an angle.

6

Cut a dark green Chelsea green bloomer in half and ink the tips of the petals in red and chocolate dye ink. Attach to the left of the patchwork panel as shown, placing a large brown button in the centre.

7

Cut cream card to 3” x 5.5”. Cut away the top corners to resemble a luggage tag. Stamp the reindeer and robin as shown onto the tag with Chocolate dye ink. Stamp small snowflakes around the characters.

8

Use watercolour pencils to colour the images before blending a mixture of dye inks into the background to give the tag a real vintage feel. Roughen the edges and rub Chocolate ink into the porous tattered border to give a very deep hue.

9

Stamp the penguin onto white cards stock, adding the snowflake to his belly. Colour as before and age by blending inks round the edge. Attach to the tag with 3d foam, using the photo as a guide.

10

Add white highlights to the characters and snowflakes before attaching the tag just overlapping the bloomer as shown using 3d foam. Add Home for Christmas brown string and bakers twine bows to the top of the tag, finishing with a small Boofle button.

11

Stamp the “All I Want For Christmas” and “With Lots Of Love” sentiments onto cream card and distress as in previous steps, before cutting out. Tuck the “All I Want For Christmas” topper under the tag as shown and add the heart across the evergreen ribbon.

12

Finish with rows of bakers twine, brown string and a smattering of buttons following the picture for placement.

Hi there! My earliest memory of crafting is sitting with my Nan embroidering when I was tiny. Since then I’ve enjoyed cross-stitch, knitting, & a multitude of paper-crafting techniques. I have been making cards for years but really became hooked when I was introduced to heat embossing. I’ve been addicted to paper, brads, ribbon, stamps, beads, wire…. ever since! I’m really looking forward to meeting you to show you what you can achieve with all the wonderful products available to you!
