DOCRAFTS CREATIVITY MAGAZINE ISSUE 33 MAY/JUN 2012

This issue we feature a delightful collection from Lucy Cromwell by Papermania, off ering all the cups of tea, cake and bunting you will need to set the scene. And just to prove how versatile this range is, you can also find it in our ‘Wedding Special’ feature and used to make a Father’s Day card in our ‘make a Father’s Day card’ challenge! Our ‘Wedding Special’ feature also includes jewellery for the bride and a charming idea to hold onto those precious memories of the big day!

Step by Step

1

Cut a piece of paper from the exquisite collection, ink the edges using light chocolate ink and fix to the front of a square cream card leaving a small border.

2

Cut cream card to measure 15.5cm x 15cm. Score a line 1cm from the edge on the left, bottom and right sides, but do not fold yet. Score 4cm from the top of the card (this will form the flap on the front). Trim the squares that have been formed where the score lines overlap (see diagram). Use a two pence piece to round the corners of the flap.

3

Trim a piece of matching paper and vellum from the exquisite collection to fit the front of the pocket and ink the edges with brown ink. I have cut the vellum so that the pattern on the paper causes a shadow through the vellum. Attach both to the pocket, only attaching the vellum where the flap will be. Now fold the 1cm flaps to the back, and the 4cm flap to the front.

4

Cut patterned paper to the length of the flap, ink the edges and attach to the flap. Tear a piece of script vellum that is slightly longer than the flap, and to the centre of this attach a length of adhesive ribbon. Attach to the flap, and fold each end of the vellum under the flap for a neat finish. Now ink the edges of the pocket with light chocolate ink and attach to the front of the card using the three flaps to form a pocket.

5

Using a brown whispers permanent marker, colour six flower pearlescent outline stickers and attach to vellum. Trim around the edge and turn over. Using an embossing stylus and a stamp mat emboss the centre and petals of the flowers. Ink the edges of a fabric and mulberry flower and attach as shown to the card using a hot glue gun. Colour the flourishes and border outline stickers with brown permanent pen, and attach to the card as shown. Fix the vellum flowers to the card using 3D foam pads, using two pads on some of the flowers for extra height. More adhesive can now be used to fix the vellum where the fabric flowers are attached.

6

To make the tag for the pocket trim cream card to measure 12cm x 13cm, and round the top corners using a two pence piece. Ink the edges. Print or stamp a greeting to a piece of patterned paper and trim to fit the card leaving a small border, again rounding the top corners and inking the edges. Colour the metal heart, and add the smaller flower to the top of the tag to finish.
