Step by Step

1

Using the X-Cut Corner punch, round each corner of an A5 Card blank.

2

Cut a circle from white card and another from lined paper. Stick the two together with a glue stick. With a fine-tipped pen, draw squiggles across each line to resemble writing.

3

Cut a circle from blue vellum and attach this to the lined circle using coloured brads, evenly spacing them as you do so. Stick the circle to the upper half of the card using tacky glue, leaving enough space for the greeting above.

4

Using the QuicKutz Squeeze cut ‘Congratulations! on passing your exams’ from two shades of blue Core’dinations card alternating the colours as shown in the picture.

5

Attach ‘Congratulations!’ in an arc over the circle. Then attach ‘on passing your exams’ below the circle.

6

To make the ‘Course work’ file, draw around the QuicKutz metal die plates on to four different colours of Core’dinations card, making sure that as you draw round it, you move the ’tab’ shape along to resemble file dividers.

7

Cut each one out and edge with fluid chalks in matching colours. Using Rub-ons, write ‘2009 Course Work’ on the front divider.

8

Cut 3 squares of lined paper to 4.5cms x 4.5cms. These will form the pages to go inside the file.

9

Place dividers and pages together and pierce two holes (evenly spaced) along one edge then pass two jump rings through the holes. The mini file is now complete. Stick to the circle using tacky glue.

10

To make the pencils, cut two cocktail sticks in half and add black fluid chalk to the pointed ends. Cover each stick with coloured fluid chalk and finish by drawing a black line near the pointed end.

11

To make the pen, cut a cocktail stick in half and add black fluid chalk to the pointed end. Cut a strip of blue vellum to approximately 3.5cms and add double-sided tape along the edge. Roll this around the stick until it is covered and trim off excess. Add small strips of silver border stickers to top, middle and bottom edge of covered stick and add a final strip to resemble a pen clip. Finally add a small adhesive gem to the top of the pen.

12

For the ruler, cut a strip of card to 3cms x 0.5cms and add tiny lines and numbers using a fine-tipped pen.

13

Attach the pen, pencils and ruler to your card using tacky glue.

14

To complete the card, chalk around the edges in blue and add stitched detail with a fine-tipped pen.

Hello, my name is Sheila and I am thrilled to be a ‘do crafts’ designer. I have been a keen crafter since childhood and now make my living from it. I demonstrate for docrafts and run my own craft groups and classes. I've have been making cards for approximately ten years and enjoy all aspects of creating and papercrafting. I like to spend lots of my time developing ideas and learning new techniques. Hopefully I will be able to share these with you and give you some inspiration when demonstrating all the wonderful products on offer
