Step by Step

1

Lay out a piece of A4 red foam. Fold one end so that it folds to the middle. Carefully cut small triangle shapes into the bended fold. (When the cracker is made these triangle pieces become diamond shapes and are the gathered part of the cracker)

2

Repeat the fold and triangle cutting at the other end.

3

Roll the foam into a cylinder shape and stick together - this is the basis of your cracker shape.

4

Whilst you are waiting for it to dry cut two long thin strips of white felt. Once the cracker shape is stuck, (top tip, you may need some sticky tape to hold the shape together until it is fully stuck and secure) then you can tie a piece of white felt around each of the diamond cut ends, tie the felt into a bow and as you do so this will gather the parts of the cracker together.

5

Now for the decorating, cut a wide strip of green felt, big enough to go around the middle of your cracker, and two thin strips of red felt. Stick the green felt in the middle of your cracker and the red ones at either end of the green.

6

For both ends of your cracker you need a strip of red felt, two thinner strips of green, and 6 smaller and thinner white strips, you will need these for each end. Stick the red felt around the end and the white strips in lines on top. Once these are dry, put the green longer strips around the edges of the red and white.

7

Now you can decorate the middle section of the cracker with stickers, why not put these on circles of white foam to make them stand out.

8

And there you have you festive felt Christmas cracker, use it as you’re very own table decoration, or fill it with sweets! Yummy!

We are a team of enthusiastic people who aim to inspire you in all of your handmade and crafting projects!
