Step by Step

1

STEP 1 Clean the glass votive... Before you begin decorating the votives, ensure that the glass surface is clean and free from grease as this will affect the quality of the paint.

2

Apply the outline sticker ... Before you paint your design, you need to create an outline using the aqua-glass instant outline stickers. Begin by carefully peeling up the design of your choice from the backing paper and press into position on the votive, making sure that all the design has been pressed down firmly - any raised areas will result in the paint ‘bleeding’ underneath the gap. Try overlapping or cutting up different designs to create your own unique design! TIP - When positioning the sticker, place them lightly onto the votive surface until you are happy with the effect. This will make it easier to reposition the sticker if required. Press down firmly once you achieve the desired effect. TIP - Place the sticker sticky side up on a flat surface and align the votive over the top. Press the votive down onto sticker when in the correct position.

3

Paint your design... Stir the paints before use. If you use the paints directly from the bottle, ensure that you use a clean, dry paint brush. Apply the paint to the height of the sticker and allow to settle flat into it’s designated area - this will create a smooth stained glass effect with no brush marks. ‘Lift’ out mistakes with a clean, damp brush when wet. Leave the finished design to dry thoroughly before lighting your tealight. TIP - When working on a 3 D surface, hold the object as flat as possible. Work in small sections at a time e.g. down one length of project. Allow each section to dry thoroughly before starting the next. Apply paint in the middle of each outlined section and ‘push’ up to the outline. To keep the paint level even on a curved surface, gently rock the project from side to side at regular intervals until the paint has set. Check for gaps which may appear in the paint. If there is a build up of paint around the outline, use a clean, damp brush to lift out excess.
