Step by Step

1

To create the adult face - Using your largest parenthesis die, cut out two pieces of green cardstock. Cut one piece of felt in your chosen colourway for the hair. Place to one side.

2

For the eyes, punch out two 1” circles from green cardstock. Cut one in half to create the eye lid and keep the other for the nose. Also cut two 1” circles from white cardstock for the eye base. You also need to punch out two smaller black mini circles for the pupils of the eyes.

3

Ink around the edges of the green parenthesis die cuts and also the green circles (nose and eyelids) using a green pigment ink. Add some blush on the female cheeks with red pigment ink and finish with a few white dots of gel pen to highlight.

4

Take your piece of felt you cut for the hair, and trim above the side points of the die cut to create a fringe. Stick the hair to the green die-cut with the tacky glue.

5

Stick the nose onto the centre of the face in between the blush cheeks. Attach the white circles for the eyes. Stick the black circles where you’d like them to be and then draw around with the Kuretake marker to give the eye some colour. Glue the eyebrow in place over each eye.

6

Take the black gel pen and draw your mouth and some stitching around the face. Put the finished faces to one side.

7

To create the box, cut a piece of A4 cardstock to 25cm x 13cm. On the long side, score the card at line 4 and line 6. On the short side, score on line 1 and line 5.

8

Holding the card portrait-wise, cut up to the first bottom score line, and cut down from the top to the first score line. Cut a third from the thin side sections. Fold the thin sections over and stick together to create the box base.

9

Punch a hole into the top of the central thicker sections. Attach the face to one side of the box and the backing to the other. Thread ribbon through the holes in the box and tie.

10

To create the smaller face - Create the boxes in the same way as the adult boxes, but cut the faces from the third size parenthesis die.

11

The box base is cut from a 16cm x 10cm piece of card and scored in the same way as before, but on the long side you will score on line 2 and line 5. On the short side, score on line 1 and line 3.

Hi. I'm Jo and I'm delighted to be a designer for 'do crafts'. I have been crafting for many years, my interest starting with cross stitch and continuing onto card making around 5 years ago, recently being able to have some work published and winning competitions. I started with the shoebox of goodies like everyone does, and this has gradually taken over my house. I love card making and scrapbooking and can't wait to give you all an insight into crafting.
