Step by Step
1
Cut three lengths of gold chain to measure about 30cm. Secure a crimp bead at the end of each of these strands. Thread on three or four assorted small beads from the selection listed onto each strand. Thread a crimp bead over all three strands but do not compress it yet. Thread on a large gold bead, a flat turquoise bead and another gold bead. Thread on a large flat brown bead and another gold bead. Thread through another crimp bead. Make a small loop with the wire and thread them back through all the beads finishing with the second crimp bead. Secure both crimp beads. Thread three small beads onto each strand and secure the end of each with a crimp bead.
2
Repeat step one using shorter lengths of wire and varying the focal turquoise beads. You will need 5 drops in total.
3
Trim gold wire to measure 1m. Fold in half and secure a jump ring in the centre with a crimp bead. This forms one end of the necklace.
4
Thread on a flat turquoise bead followed by a crimp bead. Then separate the strands and thread on two or three small beads onto each strand. Bring the strands together and thread through a round turquoise bead. Separate the strands and thread on a few beads as before. Bring them together and thread on a flat turquoise bead.
5
Separate the strands again and thread on a few beads onto each. Bring them together and thread through a round turquoise bead.
6
Thread on the shortest dropper and then add another round turquoise bead.
7
Separate the strands and thread on a few beads onto each. Bring them together and thread through a round turquoise bead.
8
Add the next largest dropper and follow with a round turquoise bead. Separate the strands and thread on a few beads onto each. Bring them together and thread through a round turquoise bead.
9
Thread on the largest dropper.
10
Reverse the sequence of beads to make the second half of the necklace.
11
Pass both strands of wire through a crimp bead, through a jump ring and back through the crimp bead. Secure the crimp bead.
12
Cut two 11cm lengths of the chunky chain and attach at either end.
13
Add a lobster claw clasp and an extender to complete.
