DOCRAFTS CREATIVITY MAGAZINE ISSUE 33 MAY/JUN 2012

This issue we feature a delightful collection from Lucy Cromwell by Papermania, off ering all the cups of tea, cake and bunting you will need to set the scene. And just to prove how versatile this range is, you can also find it in our ‘Wedding Special’ feature and used to make a Father’s Day card in our ‘make a Father’s Day card’ challenge! Our ‘Wedding Special’ feature also includes jewellery for the bride and a charming idea to hold onto those precious memories of the big day!

Step by Step

1

Ink the edges of a 6x4 photo and mat onto patterned paper leaving a narrow border.

2

Ink the edges of the paper. Do the same for all patterned papers and cardstock.

3

On the reverse of green Coredinations cardstock trace around the photo mat leaving a 2” gap. Draw a wobbly frame free hand and cut out. Stick the photo mat to the frame. Layer onto lilac cardstock.

4

Cut strips from 6 different papers and cut to different lengths and widths.

5

Add sewn borders to the cardstock base, the photo mat and the paper strips either with real or faux stitching.

6

Tip – I’m not the best sewer but I like the dimension that sewing on paper brings and the slightly wobbly lines bring an extra touch of whimsy I think!

7

Stick down the strips of patterned paper, beginning about an inch in from the right hand side. Overlap and stick down some at an angle.

8

Stick down the photo frame across the patterned papers.

9

Make a decoupage element from the Hawthorn and Bramble paper kit using foam pads. I added a sticker ladybird on top of the decoupaged one to make it stand out. Stick at bottom edge of paper strips.

10

Add three jewel brads underneath the Decoupage.

11

Freehand cut a heart shape from lilac cardstock. Trace round it and cut a second heart from paper to use as a stamp for masking. Secure 4 brads to the shape and fill in all the gaps with gems.

12

Take a notelet and stamp the title on it, using the heart mask to cover where the heart will go. Mount on a green and then a lilac cardstock circle. Attach overlapping the left hand side of the photo frame. Stick the heart on the top.

13

Write journalling on the bottom of one of the paper strips. Add lilac heart stickers randomly across the layout.
