DOCRAFTS CREATIVITY MAGAZINE ISSUE 33 MAY/JUN 2012

This issue we feature a delightful collection from Lucy Cromwell by Papermania, off ering all the cups of tea, cake and bunting you will need to set the scene. And just to prove how versatile this range is, you can also find it in our ‘Wedding Special’ feature and used to make a Father’s Day card in our ‘make a Father’s Day card’ challenge! Our ‘Wedding Special’ feature also includes jewellery for the bride and a charming idea to hold onto those precious memories of the big day!

Step by Step

1

On a long length of silver beading wire, thread the largest matt smoke grey bead to the centre and position a metal spacer bead cap each side, followed by a pink pearl and a crystazzi crystal. Add another bead cap spacer each side, then another larger smoke grey bead and another bead cap spacer. Slide on a pink pearl and two 5cm lengths of chain (one end only) into the formation, one each side. Leave the chains hanging for the moment.

2

Repeat the pattern up both sides of the necklace ensuring the matt smoke grey beads decrease in size the further up the necklace progresses. Slide a 13cm length of wire chain into the pattern at an even interval each side. I placed this just before using the metal bead cap spacer and the 10mm grey bead, so it rests nicely inside the curve of the necklace.

3

After finishing the graduated smoke grey matt beads, use pink pearls, Crystazzi smoke grey and clear crystals and smaller grey pearls in a symmetrical pattern along both sides of the remainder of the necklace strand.

4

When the necklace is the desired length, thread on a silver ball bead followed by a crimp bead at each end. Thread the wire through a jump ring one side and a lobster claw on the other end before pushing the wire back down through the crimp bead and hiding the raw end in the beads. Flatten the crimp bead closed (or use crimping pliers) to secure.

5

For the dangly beads create matching groups of three consisting of: a pink pearl and a silver ball bead on a 2cm length headpin, creating a loop at the top. A small grey pearl and a silver ball bead on a shorter headpin, making a loop at the top. A very short headpin with a pink pearl and a silver ball bead with a loop at the top of the headpin. Join all together with a jump ring and attach another jump ring to the top, which should be attached, one group of beads each side of the central grey bead.

6

Open the lower jump ring on each dangly section and attach the free end of the hanging chains to each dangly.
