Step by Step

1

Take three pieces of contrasting coloured A4 card and cut a 6cm wide strip from each. Punch both sides of each of the strips with an Xcut 4cm Border Punch Hearts.

2

Wrap the strips round three bars of soap securing the ends with double sided tape. Decorate the top of each strip with Just to say… flower decoupage pieces, die-cut sentiment borders, ribbon and adhesive gems.

3

To create the box, cut an acetate base measuring 19 x 30cm. Score 5cm in from all four sides. You’ll now see a scored square in each of the four corners. Mark a diagonal line running from the inner corner of each scored square to the corner of the acetate, dividing each square into two small triangles. TOP TIP: Score both sides of the acetate to make the folding easier.

4

Cut one of the triangles from each corner, fold the remaining triangle up and glue to the sides of the box with double sided tape to bring the base together. Scrunch up tissue paper and put inside the base. Lay your soaps on top.

5

For the box lid, cut another piece of acetate 19 x 30cm and score 4.8cm from all four sides. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to make up the lid.

6

To decorate the lid, cut two 5 x 9.5cm rectangles of purple card and punch one of the long sides with the heart border punch. Stick to each end of the box lid. Cut two 2cm wide strips of patterned paper and wrap round the bottom of the lid as shown.

7

Finally, wrap ribbon round the centre of the box and add a sentiment.

I started papercrafting when I was pregnant with my twins and caught the bug big time! There's something wonderfully relaxing about you and a bunch of pretty papers and punches. Hopefully I'll be able to give you ideas some things to try out - just like designers when I first started did for me. And remember it's only paper and the idea is to have fun. If you make a mistake, there's lots of lovely papers to buy and try again!
