DOCRAFTS CREATIVITY MAGAZINE ISSUE 33 MAY/JUN 2012

This issue we feature a delightful collection from Lucy Cromwell by Papermania, off ering all the cups of tea, cake and bunting you will need to set the scene. And just to prove how versatile this range is, you can also find it in our ‘Wedding Special’ feature and used to make a Father’s Day card in our ‘make a Father’s Day card’ challenge! Our ‘Wedding Special’ feature also includes jewellery for the bride and a charming idea to hold onto those precious memories of the big day!

Step by Step

1

Cut a rectangle 6.5 x 8 cm from white card/paper.

2

Place this 'template' over another piece of white card and lightly secure with masking tape.

3

Tap the blue Ink it Up! pigment inkpad directly onto the card until all the rectangle has been covered. Remove the template to reveal a clean edged blue inked shape.

4

Cover the shape with a mixture of green and blue Heat it Up! embossing powders. Tap the mixed excess powder off onto scrap paper and store in a spare, dry container (you can use this mixed powder another time when you are embossing).

5

Heat the powder until it melts using the Heat it Up! heat tool (see top tips for embossing). As soon as the powder has melted, quickly apply another layer of green and blue powder - the hot layer will act as a glue holding the loose powder in place. Tap off the excess as before.

6

Heat the second layer with the heat tool until it has melted. Quickly apply a mixture of green, blue and a generous amount of holographic powder over the top and tap off the excess.

7

Before you heat this last layer, ink up your three trees stamp using white pigment ink (optional but very effective!).

8

Heat the third layer of powder. You will see that the holographic powder gives the effect of a rainbow over the green and blue once heated.

9

Quickly, before this last layer has a chance to cool, firmly press your inked up stamp into the hot powder and hold down firmly, without rocking, until the powder has cooled. Carefully remove your stamp to reveal an embossed impression of three trees in the glossy, smooth, cool melted powder! TIP: If you are not happy with the effect, re-heat and re-apply a another layer of mixed powder, heat and re-stamp.

10

Cut around the design and glue it onto a larger rectangle of white card. Glue this onto a yellow Anita's blank card.

11

To add extra detail, use Anita's Outline Stickers. In this example, we have added a few silver stars onto the triple embossed design and a row of star borders, one either side of the design.

I have been with docrafts for over ten years and in that time, have tried many new crafts. I have been involved with the docrafts Creativity! magazine since its launch in 2003 and now work with some wonderful designers as the magazine editor.
