Step by Step
1
Take a piece of white vellum from your starter kit and fold in half to create an A5 card. Find and mark the centre point of the folded edge. Open the vellum so that it is laying flat.
2
Place your fan template onto the foam mat from your starter kit, and place the folded edge at the small base of your chosen fan on the top of your template.
3
Use the embossing tool from the starter kit to emboss around the edges of the shapes within the template, and fill in the border shapes and dots. Don’t emboss around the outside edges of the fan as this needs to be left open to create your repeat pattern.
4
Turn the fan to match up the patterns at the wider edge of the fan and repeat the embossing as in step 3. Repeat this process until you have five ‘scallop’ fan shapes on your vellum, which should fit exactly along the folded edge.
5
Take the vellum off the template and place onto the foam mat with the embossed side downwards. Emboss within the open design to make highlights in these areas. Once complete, use a pencil crayon, or your whisper pens to add shading to the pattern. I have coloured on both sides of the vellum to create a deeper colour, but if you like pastel colours, just colour on one side only.
6
Cut around the scallop design following the dots in the border pattern leaving the back part of the vellum attached. Use the scraps of vellum to emboss the outlines of the little flowers. Add some highlights using your embossing tools, and shading with your colouring. Put to one side.
7
Use a piece of your pastel vellum and fold in half. Place the pastel vellum and the white vellum together and trim to size on your guillotine, leaving the pastel vellum slightly larger. Take a piece of red cardstock and fold in half. Place the pastel vellum over the top of the card and trim to leave a small border all the way around.
8
Fasten all these layers together on the folded edge using dots of 3D gloss on the spine or by stitching. Tear along the bottom edge of the pastel vellum.
9
When they are all fastened together, attach the little flowers to the front of the card as shown. Finish the card off with little red gems from the wheel, and a rub on greeting at the base of the card.
